Welcome

This site gives you information on what we do and why we do it.

The product photographs are provided to give you some idea of the quality and variety of the products that form our trade. We carry a wide range but a only a small stock of any one item, and quite often only one. So just because there is a photo on the website doesn't mean we still have the item. We will make every effort to remove photos if we sell the products, and can't replace the item quickly.

Selling online

We do not yet sell online, and have no current plans to do so.
Several of our suppliers have online ordering systems and you can reach their sites via our links page.
So for now, the best way to buy our products is to come to the shop with your UK currency or a UK cheque book and bankers guarantee card.
We also take Visa credit and debit cards, but because we do have to pay huge bank charges which reduces the money to Third World activities, however, it is more convenient for customers.

If you cannot physically come to the shop, and you have spotted an item on the website that you think you would like to buy please call us on 01482 327727 and talk to a member of staff. We would be pleased to send you an item by post, but we will need pre-payment by cheque.

Privacy policy

If you e-mail us, write to us, or in any way make yourself known to us, our promise to you is that we will not disclose any of your personal information to anyone else, and we will not "spam" you or pester you in any way.

Environmental Approach

Many people who visit us have deep concerns about society and about the environment. We share those concerns, and as a business our purpose is to redress some of the iniquitous inequalities that blight so many lives.

We acknowledge our responsibility to act in a manner which preserves the environment for use by our children. But whilst we are not perfect, we are facing the right way, and moving forward as best we can.

  • We re-use materials for shop fittings.
  • We avoid using materials altogether, where-ever possible.
  • We re-use plastic bags, cardboard boxes where possible, and wrapping paper and other materials.
  • We use re-cycled paper products in preference to virgin pulped wood paper.
  • We use shredded paper as bedding litter for pets.
  • We sell organic Fair Trade products.
  • We sell recycled paper products.
  • We sell re-used/recycled metal products (including spark plugs and make-up bags).

Many of our suppliers also share the concerns and equally are striving to reduce wastage, packaging and energy usage.
