Major Fair Trade organisations
In the 1970s and 1980s Fair Trade Organisations were known as ATOs or
"Alternative Trading Organisations".
That phrase is now less fashionable than it used to be, and
the "alternative to maianstream" concept has been compromised
by the use of supermarkets as a channel of Fair Trade to consumers.
The dilution of the alternative nature of Fair Trade is regrettable.
